Vince McMahon, the now-former owner of the WWE, was a topic of conversation on Friday’s Piers Morgan Uncensored. And what a conversation it was.
Morgan had a five-person panel which included former WWE wrestler Maven Huffman and former WWE personalities Charly Arnolt (fka, Charly Caruso) and Jonathan Coachman. But for the sake of this conversation, the two most relevant panelists were Phil Mushnick of the New York Post and former WWE (as well as WCW and TNA) writer, Vince Russo.
Mushnick is a longtime critic of professional wrestling and some of his harshest criticisms came during a time when Russo was most involved. Knowing that, and the personalities of both men, it’s probably not hard to believe that portions the episode — which is available in its entirety on YouTube — turned into a shouting match.
“I called you out 30 years ago when you made it up,” Russo screamed. “You made stuff up, bro, 30 years ago.”
“Keep shouting. ‘Cause you’re a fraud,” Musnick replied.
After suggesting to Mushnick that he might be senile, Russo continued.
“You reported on stuff that was never said, bro,” he said.
“Don’t call me bro, bro,” Mushnick interjected.
“I’ll call you whatever I — I’ll call you a liar then. How ’bout that, bro? I’ll call you a liar. You reported on stuff that was never said.”

“Did you once write a newsletter about pro wrestling?” Mushnick asked. After Russo confirmed that he had, Mushnick asked, “And weren’t you very, very anti-McMahon, right? I got the copies so don’t lie.”
“No, I was very fair,” Russo said. “Show us the copies right now, Phil. Show us the copies right now. Anti-McMahon my foot, bro. I was fair. I was a fair — that’s why I went to the symposium, to hear his side of the story. Because guys like you were burying him. So I was — ‘there’s gotta be another side to the story.’ That’s why I went and you didn’t go. Because you didn’t want to hear the other side of the story. ‘Cause you had to sell newspapers, bro. You’re the fraud.”
