With an appearance by Sexyy Red and surprise appearances by a current TNA champ and a former AEW wrestler, WWE NXT pulled out all the stops Tuesday night. That reflected well in the ratings as the developmental brand saw big gains in the 18-49 demographic this week.
NXT saw a 42% gain in viewers over last week in the 18-49 demo, totaling 317k viewers. Overall, 703k viewers caught this week’s episode, a 7% increase over last week. Both metrics were NXT’s highest since early January. To date, NXT is up 26% in 18-49 in Q2 when compared to 2023’s Q2.
While both shows had to deal with an NBA Playoff game, this week’s NXT had a Stanley Cup Playoff game. On the other hand, last week’s NXT had to deal with season finales on many network shows. So in terms of competition, it was largely even from one week to the other.
This week’s show was highlighted by a tag team main event featuring NXT Champion Trick Williams and an appearance by rapper Sexyy Red to start the show.
What viewers weren’t expecting was a surprise appearance by TNA Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace and former AEW wrestler Ethan Page. Grace will challenge Roxanne Perez for the NXT Women’s Championship at NXT Battleground while Page attacked Williams and ended the show holding the NXT Championship, insinuating a future title match. While there was a report Page signed with WWE, Page took to social media to deny he’s signed by any company.
