The Indiana Fever and superstar point guard Caitlin Clark evened their first-round playoff series against the Las Vegas Aces on Tuesday night with a 99-89 win in Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Unfortunately, the game was overshadowed by a heated exchange between Aces forward A’ja Wilson, the reigning WNBA MVP, and an Indiana fan in the fourth quarter. The moment, which resulted in Wilson being assessed a technical foul and the fan being briefly removed from his seat, also upstaged another tense moment in the game’s final period.

After Clark drilled a three-pointer over Wilson to put the Fever up 11 points, she turned toward the Prime Video broadcast table and pointed at Prime Video analyst Candace Parker, appearing to yell, “The f*ck you think this was?”

“What did she say to you, Candace?” Parker’s fellow game analyst LaChina Robinson quickly asked.

“I don’t know what Caitlin Clark just said, but whatever hyped her up,” Parker responded. “That was a big shot right there.”

It’s unclear what prompted Clark to address Parker after the shot, but the two know each other, as Clark appeared on the Post Moves podcast earlier this season, which Parker co-hosts with Clark’s teammate Aaliyah Boston. Whatever spurred the outburst, it doesn’t appear to have affected their relationship. After the win, Clark found the Hall of Famer for a hug after her 27-point, 15-rebound performance.

“I blacked out,” cameras caught her appearing to tell Parker. “I said, ‘F*ck you think this was.’”

The All-Star then sat down as a headset was put on her for a post-game interview. Afterwards, Parker whispered something in the guard’s ear, to which Clark seemed to reply, “Thank you.”

The intensity Clark showed on Tuesday night is a big part of why she’s become the biggest draw in women’s sports. Unfortunately, it’s also contributed to the bizarre, nonstop media frenzy that follows the Fever star. Thankfully, she’s been able to block out the distractions and keep her focus on helping the Fever win, and the Fever will need all of both her focus and intensity for Thursday’s winner-take-all Game 3 in Las Vegas.
