On Tuesday night, countless sports media members came together in support of longtime Detroit sports fan and social media influencer Andy Isaac, who posted an unfortunate update on X about his lengthy battle with cancer.
Isaac, who is better known as “WorldofIsaac” on X, has been an uber-popular figure when it comes to any and all news about Detroit sports over the years, even being featured in a story about his life Bill Shea of The Athletic in 2019.
Sadly, much of the content that Isaac has been posting about on social media as of late has been health updates amidst an ongoing 19-year battle with cancer, which has caused him to be in and out of the hospital frequently.
On Tuesday, Isaac posted an unfortunate update on his health taking a turn for the worse, outlining how the post will likely be his last as he has decided to go into hospice care.
“I have composed so many messages on social media,” wrote Isaac. “For myself, for work, for entertainment, for food, for cancer, for Faturday, for sports, for the Lions and for the Pistons, and for the Tigers and MSU and so on and so on. I don’t know when my first tweet or post was but I can tell you, sadly, this is probably one of my last. Having cancer since 2006 has finally taken a toll on me, it has finally stripped me of quality of life. I have decided on hospice care.
“Like has been a struggle these last few months and years. I hope I can find some peace in hospice. I may keep a journal of my final days. I’m not sure yet. I’m tired and I’m in pain, I have a horrible foot infection that is preventing me from walking and I just don’t have the strength to do the last-minute things I want. But I’ll try. I hope I gave you all a positive outlook on life. I hope I made even the smallest impact. Be kind to each other. I love you all. Truly, I do.”
