Casimiro, the massively popular Brazilian soccer content creator, is moving his CazéTV live event streams exclusively to YouTube after recurring copyright issues on Twitch.
According to Brazil’s Correio, The move comes after Twitch banned CazéTV in December for streaming the FIFA Intercontinental Cup final, his third ban of 2024. The streamer has maintained a partnership with FIFA for years, giving him livestreaming rights to events including the World Cup.
In addition, Casimiro owns exclusive streaming rights in soccer-crazed Brazil for the UEFA Europa League and Conference League tournaments as well as Brazil’s Campeonato Brasileiro and Campeonato Paulista, which YouTube acquired and hired Casimiro to announce.
Casimiro also operates a popular Casimito Twitch channel with nearly 4 million followers. That channel, which features Casimiro in a more traditional streaming format, is expected to continue.
The move is a big win for YouTube, which partnered directly with Casimiro early in his career. Casimiro’s Campeonato Paulista streams generate millions of views. This past weekend’s stream of the cup final drew more than 7 million viewers.
In a massive country like Brazil with millions of ravenous soccer fans, Casimiro is a star. He is the rare sports live streamer, transporting soccer fans into the action from his desk with humor and passion.
As he continues to strike partnerships and offer alternative viewing options for his young audience, Casimiro shows a path forward in an industry that is continually nervous about sports viewership among young people.
For now, that evolution will happen on YouTube and not Twitch, after the Amazon-owned streaming platform failed to work with CazeTV to ensure his broadcast rights were respected by the site’s copyright trackers.
