NBA on TNT analyst Stan Van Gundy said recently he’s working hard to improve his broadcast skills, and he jumped in at a critical moment in Monday’s New York-Indiana playoff game to make a quick, colorful point.
The Knicks held a 118-117 lead with 12 seconds remaining, but the Pacers had the ball and a chance to win the game. But Indiana star Myles Turner got called for an offensive foul after Knicks guard Donte DiVincenzo hit the court hard on a play that seemed to involve almost no contact.
The Knicks got the ball, and ultimately, the win in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference Semifinals series.
Van Gundy leaped in to blast the call.
“That is shocking. You never see that call at this point in the game. I mean, NEVER,” Van Gundy said. “That is a great acting job. Lot of great actors here in New York City; you see ’em on Broadway all the time. That’s as good an acting job as you’ll see.
“Wow did Donte DiVincenzo act on that.”

Van Gundy told The Sports Media Podcast recently he was working to improve his delivery.
“I tend to be too wordy at times and I need to get in and out quicker making my points,” Van Gundy told the podcast.
Van Gundy sounded great making a sharp observation on that critical play.
