As TNT Sports prepares for life without the NBA, the Warner Bros. Discovery-owned company has announced a new sports show. Above the Fold with Jemele Hill will debut on truTV at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22, with the 60-minute Uninterrupted-produced show giving viewers a look “into important stories and topics centered on the connection between sports and culture.”
“I’m very excited to be working with TNT Sports and UNINTERRUPTED on a project that centers sports journalism and compelling storytelling,” Hill said in a release. “The sports media landscape is constantly evolving, but there is always room for nuance, depth and perspective.”
Added TNT Sports chief content officer Craig Barry: “As we develop the TNT Sports on truTV programming lineup, we’re excited to partner with UNINTERRUPTED and Jemele to create a show that will be entertaining, insightful and thought provoking. Jemele is an influential voice within the sports community and has a unique lens. We are looking forward to building a platform to share meaningful and compelling perspectives with our fans.”
For Hill, this marks her return to television following the end of her previous Vice TV show, Cari and Jemele Won’t Stick to Sports, which aired its final episode in 2021. In this time since, she has made regular appearances on The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz, served as a guest correspondent for TNT Sports’ The Arena and hosted her Jemele Hill is Unbothered podcast, which last released an episode in 2023. The ex-ESPNer has also served as a producer on multiple documentary projects while writing for The Atlantic.
As for TNT Sports, this marks the latest edition to its sports offerings as it enters what will likely be its final season as an NBA rightsholder. In recent months, Warner Bros. Discovery has put a particular emphasis on truTV with a weeknight sports block that begins at 6 p.m. ET.
News of Hill’s new show seemingly indicates the media conglomerate isn’t done yet when it comes to adding sports programming. And it’s worth noting that the release states that “TNT Sports and UNINTERRUPTED will continue to partner on the development of additional projects to be announced at a later date.”
