TNT Sports is retaining one of its top basketball analysts for the foreseeable future.
The network announced on Wednesday that former WNBA star Candace Parker has reached a multi-year extension to stay at TNT Sports and continue her role as an analyst across the network’s several basketball properties.
Per the release, Parker will continue to serve in a prominent role as an analyst during the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, where she has been a studio analyst since 2019. Additionally, Parker will expand her role by adding game analyst duties for TNT’s coverage of Big East men’s and women’s basketball, and Big 12 men’s basketball. She will also continue as the lead studio analyst for Unrivaled, the recently-launched 3-on-3 women’s basketball league that debuted earlier this year.
“I’m grateful to keep doing what I love with my TNT Sports family,” Parker said in a press release. “Getting to cover the Big East, Big 12, March Madness, and now Unrivaled — it all means a lot. These moments are special, and I don’t take any of it for granted.”
“Candace is one of the most respected figures in basketball and we’re excited to expand the ways she connects with fans through a growing number of TNT Sports properties,” Nate Smeltz, TNT Sports SVP, Talent Relations & Global Communications said.
While Parker will be adding a number of college hoops duties, she’ll unfortunately be dropping NBA duties with TNT no longer a broadcast partner with the league. That element could’ve made this a harder sell for TNT to retain Parker. But the network has to be pleased it was able to secure one of the faces of its basketball studio coverage for multiple years.
