If Amazon and NBC are truly seeking a Charles Barkley-type analyst for their NBA coverage, they better sign Blake Griffin.
Griffin is eyeing a career as an NBA broadcaster, with one recent report noting he’s talking to Amazon and NBC about a possible “Charles Barkley-esque role.” The six-time All-Star showed Thursday he can channel Barkley’s persona perfectly. In an appearance on NBA on TNT’s podcast The Steam Room, Griffin pulled off a perfect and hilarious imitation of Barkley.
Barkley and podcast cohost Ernie Johnson were talking with Griffin about his golf game.
“The amount of sayings that I’ve added to my repertoire — I used one of yours the other day,” Griffin said. “When one of your putts was close and you said, ‘Man, they got a cure for everything except lockjaw. I wouldn’t want to give me these three-footers.'”
Johnson chuckled. “That’s a pretty good Chuckster right there, Blake,” he said.

Griffin has definitely shown he can perfectly imitate Barkley, who has helped make TNT’s Inside the NBA such a success. Front Office Sports’ Michael McCarthy reported last month that Amazon is considering Griffin to be the “face of” Prime Video NBA coverage when it begins its new TV contract with the 2025-26 season.
However, McCarthy said Griffin has also talked with NBC, and ESPN might also be interested.
“A lot of people are very interested in him,” a source told McCarthy. “Blake is making the rounds.”
If at any point one of Blake Griffin’s potential suitors says, “Show us your best Charles Barkley impression,” he’ll definitely be a hit in the C-Suite.
As for Inside the NBA, the award-winning show is moving to ESPN next season.
