The hockey world mourned the news that Hockey Night in Canada would be cutting back on Tim Thompson‘s opening montages this season with the move to Rogers. Thompson’s opening intro video packages weren’t your run-of-the-mill network promotional video. They weren’t a semi-famous actor reading from a script. They weren’t the same old video packages. They were works of art.
Although HNIC fans might be missing out on classic Thompson videos, the good news is that they aren’t completely a thing of the past. Thompson uploaded this video to his Vimeo page dedicated to the Montreal Canadiens and it is simply fantastic. If I’m a sports network in North America, I’m knocking on his door today to bring this expert filmmaking to television.
