If you’re going to do a silly promotion at the ballpark like Star Wars Night, you might as well go all out – and that’s exactly what the Philadelphia Phillies did on Friday night during their game with the St. Louis Cardinals.
The telecast began with an amazing version of the famous introductory crawl, and I think the phrase “evil Cardinals empire” echoes how nearly every non-Cardinals fan feels about them. Broadcasters Tom McCarthy and Jamie Moyer dressed as Chewbacca and Obi-Wan Kenobi during the broadcast’s introdiction.
The Phillie Phanatic hung out with some Stromtroopers, while the Phanatic and PA announcer Dan Baker wore the traditional Jedi robes at points during the evening.
Also, this happened as various Phillies were turned into Star Wars characters on Phanavision at the ballpark.
Terrifying.
