Apparently Telemundo was broadcasting the Packers-Patriots preseason game last night, which may have led to the greatest announcing moment in NFL history – a “GOOOOOOOOOOL” call for a chip shot Mason Crosby field goal. In a preseason game.
The most amazing thing about this clip is while the Telemundo announcer gives the traditional “GOOOOOOOL” call screaming with excitement, head coach Mike McCarthy looks like he’d rather be reading through old magazines at the dentist’s office.
My only hope is that the “GOOOOOOOOL” call takes off throughout the football world now that we’ve seen the potential of fusing together Spanish speaking soccer announcing with the NFL.
Just once, just one time, let me hear Al Michaels break out one of these for a field goal before he retires. Just one time.
