Well, this is one of the roughest local newscast fails we’ve seen in recent memory. On Friday, Fox 5 in San Diego accidentally used a picture of President Obama while talking about a rape at San Diego State. Whoops.
Assignment editor Mike Willie acknowledged the error, but according to the Times of San Diego, he claimed the network wouldn’t be issuing an apology, saying “they really don’t do that when it’s a small thing like that.”
Fox 5’s parent company then got wind of the situation and issued an apology of their own, and an apology aired on the network on Sunday night.
Yeesh. That’s a pretty big mix-up.
