Oh, Phil Simms. The CBS color commentator couldn’t have picked a more unfortunate choice of words when he described Ray Rice as being “beat up” last season when discussing his recent performance for the Ravens.

Of course Simms didn’t mean anything by it – the quote and the context therein just likely slipped his mind. Still though, if there’s one thing you would think announcers would be careful not to say, it’s associating Ray Rice with imagery of being “beat up.” Oh, Phil. Phil, Phil, Phil. One can imagine Simms saying this to his producer and director afterwards…
