This weird WWE/ESPN tie-in just got taken to a whole new level.

ESPN’s Jonathan Coachman broke the news that WWE champion Seth Rollins hurt his knee and would miss 6-9 months.

In perhaps a more bizarre twist, WWE.com then reported on the injury…and credited ESPN while embedding Coachman’s tweet.

As first reported on Twitter by ESPN, Rollins suffered the injury last night at a WWE Live Event in Dublin, Ireland, and is expected to miss six to nine months of action.

Last month, there was a SportsCenter segment dedicated to recapping the week in WWE featuring an interview from Rollins. Ever since, SportsCenter has been running weekly segments and interviews offering WWE coverage. It’s a continuation of a loose partnership that has included a deeper look at NXT on E:60 and prime coverage of big events like WrestleMania.

Just never forget that Coachman used to work for WWE back in the day.

I guess ESPN isn’t considering WWE pop culture now. OK then.
