In their effort to cover the NFL from every possible angle, ESPN has unveiled a new way to recap each week of the NFL season – by using emojis to explain what happened.

If an outlet *other* than ESPN did this, it would get hailed as quirky and unique and (gulp) “a way to reach millennials”, or whatever.

But ESPN does it? IT’S A DISGRACE!

This video is what it is – short, quirky, and completely harmless. Yes, it lacks much in the way of deep content, but not everything needs to be a journalistic masterpiece.

Quick digital video content is taking over the sports landscape. Fox has done extremely well with The Buzzer, and both Bleacher Report and SBNation are making waves with their in-house video content on social media. It’s only natural for ESPN to get in on the act too.
