The staggering new television rights deal for the Barclays Premier League in the UK has made jaws drop all over the world. And while the BPL is making less domestically than the NFL, the growth in the BPL’s UK rights fees greatly exceed what the NFL has done in the US according to this chart from Cork Gaines of Business Insider.

Needless to say, that’s a lot of money.

But keep this is mind – the NFL’s latest TV deals with CBS, NBC, Fox, and ESPN run through 2021-22. The BPL’s latest UK TV deal with BT Sport and Sky only runs through the 2018-19 season. The Premier League will likely get another fine chunk of change from UK providers, and should only see that growth pattern increase even more.

Then, of course, the NFL’s next rights deal will result in another absurd raise.
