It’s Conference Championship weekend in the NFL. And with us reaching the money end of the season, it’s time to pay special attention to all the crazy and fascinating prop bets out there. One caught our eye in particular. Bovada is actually offering a line on which local TV market will have the highest rating this weekend.

Remarkable. You can actually bet on television ratings! Where has this been all my life?!?! Green Bay is the favorite and rightly so. (Although technically it’s the Milwaukee market.) The smart money is on the Packers because, after all, they led the local television ratings in 2014 with an average of a 45.2 rating. Seattle was 3rd (42.3), the Patriots 8th (35.5), and the Colts 9th (34.3).
It may not be as cut and dry as it seems, though. The evening championship game usually draws better numbers because it goes into primetime and that’s Colts-Patriots. Also, if the Seahawks dominate the Packers, it’s likely that Seattle fans are more likely to stick around. Still though, I’d lean towards the Packers here. (Strictly in hypothetical terms, not that we endorse physical wagers or anything.) At least that’s what the prop bet loving Al Michaels in me would say.
