Whether Bill Walton is in Los Angeles, China or Maui, he continues to provide great material for us here at Awful Announcing. Wednesday was no exception. As the Maui Invitational 7th place game between Chaminade and St. John’s was ending, play-by-play man Jon Sciambi, taking the Dave Pasch position for three days, asked Walton about his time in Maui. Walton who has been going on huge tangents between Monday and Wednesday, decided to get edgy… really edgy.
Sciambi’s reaction was classic. And to make it even better, during the 5th place game between UNLV and Indiana, Walton asked Sciambi how do sea turtles tell time. Sciambi replied, “Bill, they don’t care.”
Classic. Just classic.
