Never change, Bill Walton.  Never change.  During last night’s Oregon-USC telecast, Walton delivered his own personal version of Kobe Bryant’s 81 point game.  It was a virtuoso performance in the category of analysts spending more time talking about famous musicians than the game happening right in front of them.  There were also enough quotables to completely re-do the Bill Walton Bingo card.

Let’s start with his comments about Michael Jordan…

He also called an Oregon player Snoop Dogg…

He then went on a long tangent that had nothing to do with the game, even by his standards.  Walton delivered a soliloquy about the brilliance of Bob Dylan over the course of multiple possessions that started with maybe the greatest sentence ever spoken in announcing.

“Nelson Mandela, Bob Dylan, Bill Russell, Thomas Edison, the light is on throw it down Snoop Dogg!  Please!”

Walton scolding Pasch and telling him “this is not radio, please” for daring to do play by play is one of the great moments in the history of western civilization.  And via SB Nation, ESPN even prepared a graphic for Walton’s Dylan tribute…

This is the pinnacle of sports broadcasting, folks.
