Nick Kyrgios doesn’t seem to have much love for Jannik Sinner’s Wimbledon win.
Sinner earned a dramatic four-set victory over Carlos Alcaraz in the 2025 final on Sunday, avenging his loss in the French Open final.
While many around the tennis world celebrated the Italian pro’s first Wimbledon title and fourth Grand Slam win, Kyrgios appeared to send a message afterward with a cryptic X post that consisted of just one character: an asterisk.

Presumably, Kyrgios was referencing the fact that Sinner was previously suspended for doping. The asterisk would imply that the win by the No. 1 men’s singles player in the world is tainted.
Sinner tested positive for clostebol, a banned anabolic steroid, twice in 2024. He served a three-month suspension as part of a settlement with the World Doping Agency.
Kyrgios and Sinner also have some personal history that might factor into the rivalry. Both men previously dated Russian professional tennis player Anna Kalinskaya. Kyrgios once commented “second serve” on a photo of Sinner and Kalinskaya together, presumably about the fact that he had previously dated her.
The Australian tennis pro was also a vocal critic of Sinner’s doping results, calling for a two-year suspension instead of the three months he received.
His outspoken comments might have been part of the reason he didn’t return to ESPN’s Wimbledon coverage this year.
The 30-year-old Kyrgios has never won a Grand Slam title, and he lost to Sinner in their lone head-to-head match in 2022.
