Maven to lay off nine percent of staff, including six percent of Sports Illustrated editorial staff, projects $30 million revenue loss

Amidst projections for a $30 million drop in revenue this year, Maven has laid off nine percent of its staff, including six percent of the remaining editorial staff at SI.

Sports Illustrated staffers are looking to form a wider newsroom union, citing concerns about decisions made by Maven management

Around 15 SI staffers (who mostly work for the print magazine) are already represented by the NewsGuild of New York. SI employees are now looking to form a wider union with that organization that would see around 80 newsroom employees represented.

Sports Illustrated updates “USC to dismiss Helton” story three days later with apology and retraction from Maven author

Three days after the initial "Sources: USC to dismiss Clay Helton" story hit Sports Illustrated channels, that story has been removed and replaced with an apology from the Maven author.
