Sarah Spain has long been a champion of women’s sports. Now, she’s using her platform to promote a community-owned pre-professional women’s soccer team in Minnesota.
Taking to Bluesky on Thursday, Spain urged her following to participate in the second round of funding for Minnesota Aurora FC, a team that competes in the USL W’s Heartland Division.
Get in besties, we’re buying a soccer team.
Good Game with Sarah Spain and our loyal listeners, aka “slices,” are supporting the biggest community-owned women’s sports team in America, by buying a “slice” of the Minnesota Aurora FC. @mnaurorafc.bsky.social

This isn’t Spain’s first foray into team ownership. She’s already a part-owner in the NWSL’s Chicago Red Stars. Eventually, Aurora FC would like to become an NWSL expansion team, though their bid for 2026 was denied. One could surmise that if Aurora FC was ever granted NWSL expansion, Spain would need to divest from at least one of her ownership stakes.
Spain currently hosts the Good Game with Sarah Spain podcast, a show dedicated to covering women’s sports. She also is a former panelist on ESPN’s Around the Horn — though she told Awful Announcing’s Michael Grant earlier this month that she was never given a reason why she was removed from the show.
Regardless, Sarah Spain is clearly keeping busy in her post-ATH days.
