A Newcastle United fan exposing himself.

Sports events sometimes run long and delay the news, but it’s rare for that to lead to news viewers watching a man wave his penis around on live TV. That’s what happened on England’s BBC One Tuesday, though. The problems started because Newcastle United’s fourth-round FA Cup replay with Oxford United (their first clash on Jan. 25 ended in a 0-0 draw, necessitating the replay) went into extra time, delaying the start of the BBC News at Ten. And then, when Allan Saint-Maximin scored what would be the winner for Newcastle in the 116th minute, a fan in the crowd was seen in the background of the shot of Saint-Maximin’s reaction…and the fan decided to pull out his penis and start waving it around.

And a taller shot illustrates that the guy was standing above a Viagra ad, to boot:

And Saint-Maximin himself weighed in as well:

“We’ve seen some great goals here tonight.” Sure, but that’s not all we’ve seen. And the viewers expecting the BBC News at Ten were probably particularly surprised. As per Caught Offside’s Ron Carne, too, At least the cameraman cut away quickly, but yeah, that’s still quite the unusual sports moment. And if BBC viewers were “stunned by endless scenes of nudity and sex” in The Trial of Christine Keefer drama series in December, imagine how they feel about getting that in their football…
