Women's World Cup action will now be seen on NBCSN as well as Telemundo.

While Fox’s ratings for their English-language Women’s World Cup coverage have been strong so far, they’ll have some more competition for the U.S. team’s next match Monday. The Round of 16 games that day see the U.S. facing Spain (at 11:30 a.m. Eastern) and Sweden facing Canada (at 2:30 p.m. Eastern), and NBC Sports announced Friday that they’ll be carrying the Spanish-language feed from sister network Telemundo on NBCSN that day. Here’s more from their release:

NBCSN will televise two FIFA Women’s World Cup matches in Spanish this Monday, June 24. Live coverage begins at 11:30 a.m. ET when the United States face Spain at Stade Auguste-Delaune in Reims, and continues at 2:30 p.m. ET when Sweden face Canada at Parc des Princes in Paris Saint-Germain, France, in the Round of 16 of the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup France™.

Andres Cantor calls the United States-Spain match on Telemundo and NBCSN, joined by former Mexican National Team and Chivas player Manuel Sol and Venezuelan player and finalist for the Best FIFA Women’s Player Deyna Castellanos. Sammy Sadovnik calls the Sweden-Canada match on Universo and NBCSN, joined by analyst Eduardo Biscayart.

We’ve seen this kind of approach from NBC and Telemundo before. Last year at the men’s World Cup, NBC simulcast game feeds from Telemundo on their app, and they simulcast some prominent games on NBCSN as well. And this makes a fair bit of sense for them; the corporate relationship means they’re not getting the Telemundo feed at a high price (if it comes at any price at all), and it will probably draw decent ratings. And it will likely mean even more U.S. viewers tune in for Monday’s World Cup coverage.
