Here’s a look at the announcing assignments for Week 4 of the NFL season, with some discussion of a featured game in each slot based on broadcasters, matchups, or both. All times are Eastern.

There are plenty of stakes here in this clash of 1-2 NFC East rivals. Both of these teams are not off to the start they’d want. But the Giants are coming in off a better week following a 21-15 road win against the Cleveland Browns (also the only team the Cowboys have beat this year), while Dallas just fell 28-25 at home to the Baltimore Ravens. This should be an interesting quarterback duel between just-paid Dak Prescott and Daniel Jones, with both often criticized by their fanbases.

Brady gets his first Fox assignment not involving the Cowboys, and it should be an interesting one. Both teams are 2-1, and they matched up last postseason in the divisional round, with the Buccaneers wiping out the Eagles 32-9. The Eagles are also coming off a couple of interesting weeks, with a late Monday Night Football loss against the Atlanta Falcons followed by a low-scoring late comeback road win over the New Orleans Saints. We’ll see how they play here, and how Brady and co. call it.

Sunday, Sept. 29, afternoon games

Chargers' QB Justin Herbert against the Steelers on Sept. 22, 2024.

This sets up as an excellent clash, and one going to much of the country. The defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs are 3-0, while the Chargers are 2-1, and looking to rebound after a 20-10 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers last week. Despite the unblemished record, the Chiefs have had close calls, including a five-point win over the Falcons last week and a one-point victory over the Cincinnati Bengals the week before. How will they do against Justin Herbert (who has his own questions after being limited in practice) and the Chargers’ offense?

The Ravens are 1-2 on the year, but enter this one on a good note, coming in after that aforementioned 28-25 road win over the Cowboys last week. The Bills are a perfect 3-0 to date. But can Josh Allen keep his year-to-date success going against a tough Baltimore defense?

It’s another week of split ESPN and ABC MNF games, and this one again looks good for ABC. They get the 3-0 Seahawks against the 2-1 Lions. The key question here may be if Seattle QB Geno Smith can keep the Seahawks rolling. His year-to-date stats (787 yards and three touchdowns against three interceptions) aren’t overwhelming, but he has been efficient with a 74.8 percent completion rate. We’ll see what he can do here.
