It was a record-setting week for FS1 as Game 7 of the “American League Championship Series” between the Houston Astros and the New York Yankees on Saturday, Oct. 21 was the network’s all-time most-watched telecast with an average of 9.924 million viewers. It peaked at 11.758 million viewers from 11:00 to 11:15 PM ET, as the Astros clinched their very first American League pennant. (Source: Fox Sports)

The MLB playoffs on FS1 were also a boon for the home markets of the participating teams.

For the week of Oct. 9-15, Games 4 and 5 of the Yankees-Indians “American League Division Series” was among two of the top four prime time telecasts in the New York TV market (#1 – ALDS Game 5 – Oct. 11: 1.54 million viewers; #4 – ALDS Game 4 – Oct. 9: 1.3 million viewers) and were the top two prime time spots in the Cleveland TV market (#1 – ALDS Game 5 – Oct. 11: 620,000 viewers; #2 – ALDS Game 4 – Oct. 9: 482,000 viewers).

Game 1 of American League Championship Series on Oct. 13 ranked first among prime time shows in Houston (533,000 viewers); second for the week in New York (1.39 million viewers).

For the week of Oct. 16-22, the American League Championship Series took five of the top six prime time spots in each New York and Houston markets:

  • Game 3 – Oct. 16 8-11:30 p.m. ET: New York #4 (1.394 million viewers), Houston #3 (471,000 viewers)
  • Game 4 – Oct. 17 5-8:45 p.m. ET: New York #6 (1.206 million viewers), Houston #5 (425,000 viewers)
  • Game 5 – Oct. 18 5:30-8:30 p.m. ET: New York #3 (1.521 million viewers), Houston #6 (349,000 viewers)
  • Game 6 – Oct. 20 8-11:30 p.m. ET: New York #2 (1.689 million viewers), Houston #2 (616,000 viewers)
  • Game 7 – Oct. 21 8-11:30 p.m. ET: New York #1 (2.107 million viewers), Houston #1 (903,000 viewers)

How did regularly scheduled programs draw in comparison?

  • NBC’s ‘Sunday Night Football’ Atlanta-New England – Oct. 22: New York 843,000 viewers; Houston 444,000 viewers
