Throughout Tom Brady’s first year at Fox, many of his former teammates, including Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman, have spoken out on his behalf despite the many criticisms he has received from media pundits. But on Tuesday, his old New England Patriots teammate Vince Wilfork opted not to sugarcoat how he believed his former quarterback was handling himself in the Fox booth.
Wilfork, who played with Brady for 11 seasons, appeared on the Boomer and Gio show on WFAN Tuesday to discuss a number of different topics including Bill Belichick’s looming tenure at UNC and the NFL playoffs.
But just before he left, he was asked by Gregg Giannotti what he thought of Brady’s broadcasting abilities.
“Hey, before you go, what do you think of Tom Brady as a broadcaster?” asked Giannotti.
Wilfork responded by staring a hole through Giannotti that indicated he believes Brady has certainly left a lot to be desired as a broadcaster.
“I don’t know,” said Wilfork after blankly staring at Giannotti.
“I’ve never been stared at before like that in my life,” replied Giannotti. “Other than my wife. She has given me those eyes.”
“I mean, he’s very knowledgeable of the game,” said Wilfork. “Like that’s what it is. But I would rather him be my quarterback than on TV doing what he’s doing now. I love him for my quarterback.”

Giannotti and Wilfork both then expressed doubts that Brady would be returning to the Fox broadcast booth after this season due to his ownership venture with the Las Vegas Raiders.
“He may only be doing it this year,” said Giannotti. “He’s so involved with the Raiders ownership. I wouldn’t be surprised, I think there are a lot of rumblings he does the Super Bowl and he’s done.”
“I heard there is a lot going on legally with what he can and cannot do. So yeah,” added Wilfork.
Wilfork’s complaints with Brady’s performance at Fox line up with what many who have watched him throughout the season also believe. His expertise when it comes to the X’s and O’s is undeniable.
But with that being said, he is certainly still a work in progress with some of the nuances of broadcasting, something even he has admitted.
Still, considering how long Brady and Wilfork played together as teammates, and how the rest of Brady’s former teammates have largely been rather complimentary of Brady’s broadcasting abilities, it is somewhat shocking to see Wilfork speak so bluntly here about Brady’s broadcasting career.
