Radio show call-ins can take various forms, but a great call always manages to be memorable. The Michael Kay Show found that out this week.
Kay, Don La Greca, and Peter Rosenberg welcomed ‘Anna’ to the show. Anna, who the show said resides in Washington Township, New Jersey, first cleared up her location at the beginning of her call. The host and voice of the New York Yankees first thought that she was from Washington D.C.
Things got a bit more derailed after this early start. She introduced herself as a 70-year-old and thanked the show’s hosts for saying she sounded younger than that.
Anna then claimed that an ex-boyfriend of hers played for the New York Giants during the 1980s, when the team had Phil Simms, Mark Bavaro, and Lawrence Taylor, who she had named. Rosenberg continued to make guesses, which incited some hilarious chatter between both sides.
“Phil Simms, yes, great era of the Giants. They just can’t make it anymore. And as far as my association with anyone on the Yankees, it was during ‘the Bucky Dent-Fred Stanley era,'” Anna shockingly revealed. Kay was particularly in shock that she also had an “association” with the Yankees too.
The discussion continued on, with Anna not revealing his name, but said he beat cancer several years ago and is “obsessed” with The Michael Kay Show. Kay and Co. continued to name names, until she finally cracked and said it was Phil McConkey. Funnily, McConkey was one of the names Rosenberg mentioned. She refused, however, to relent on naming the Yankee. Despite the fact that Kay and Co. pushed and pushed and kept naming name after name after name!
“This is the greatest phone call this show has ever had,” La Greca said. The show then invited her to their annual Beach Bash, which she said she would attend. If you listened to this call, your eyes might be on that.
