Through the first two games, Yankees fans have been patiently awaiting star slugger Aaron Judge to show a semblance of what he has shown he is capable of throughout the regular season. So much so that when Yankees radio play-by-play voice John Sterling thought that Judge had just come up with a big hit in Game 3 of the World Series on Monday night, he incorrectly got quite excited.
Judge came into the game with just a .150 batting average throughout the postseason. In the World Series specifically through two games, Judge has recorded just one hit in nine at-bats, six of which resulting in strikeouts.
In Judge’s second at-bat on Monday night, he finally showed what looked like a glimpse of his old self with a great swing resulting in a fly ball to left field.
Sterling and Yankees fans in attendance thought that Judge had finally broken through his slump with potentially a home run to deep left field. But instead, it was just a lazy fly ball caught by Teoscar Hernandez.

To be fair to Sterling, he wasn’t expected to be calling any more Yankees games, announcing his retirement earlier this year only to come back for the team’s postseason run. And the swing from Judge did look like many of his home run swings that we have seen plenty of throughout the regular season.
But unfortunately, Judge’s postseason woes continue. And unless we do see some actual home run swings from Judge soon, Sterling may be headed back to retirement without seeing his Yankees win a World Series championship.
