Longtime WFAN host Joe Benigno is on the record as despising technology.
He doesn’t own a smartphone and has run into technical issues since starting to record radio shows and podcasts from his home.
Usually, Benigno’s wife Terry can help him with whatever trouble he runs into, allowing the host to remain on the air.
On Saturday, however, Benigno had a technical issue that wound up not being an issue at all, leading to the entire interaction being captured on audio and getting the host so flustered that he sent his cat out of the recording area.
It was the latest of a handful of comical hot mic exchanges Benigno has provided the world with. And it was unsurprising to hear Gregg Giannotti and Boomer Esiason break down the audio, complete with howling laughter, Monday morning on WFAN’s Boomer and Gio.

“Joe didn’t think this was being recorded or posted, but it was,” Giannotti said to set up the clip, where we hear Benigno yelling at the cat before his wife enters the room and he starts to rant about the recording software.
The audio also includes Benigno clearing his throat into the mic which causes Giannotti and Boomer to lose their minds.
“Maybe they could tell him how to edit it. Actually, don’t tell him,” Esiason said.
If history has taught us anything, it’s just a matter of time before the next battle of Joe Benigno vs. technology.
