ESPN Radio in New York will soon be on television again, reaching an agreement with MSG Networks to simulcast two of its shows.
Beginning Sept. 8, ESPN New York’s morning show featuring Rick DiPietro and Dave Rothenberg, as well as its afternoon show with Don La Greca, Alan Hahn and Peter Rosenberg, will both be simulcast by MSG Networks. ESPN New York announced the partnership on social media Wednesday morning.

It marks the first time since Michael Kay departed afternoon drive that ESPN New York will be available on TV. Previously, The Michael Kay Show had a lengthy run on YES Network, but that simulcast ended when Kay opted for the 1–3 p.m. ET timeslot. Kay was a guest on the Awful Announcing Podcast this week, where he said his solo show was in talks to continue on YES, but they couldn’t reach a financial agreement with the radio station. More than a year and a half later, ESPN New York, which Good Karma Brands operates, reached an agreement for its morning and afternoon drive shows to air on MSG.
ESPN New York already has a working relationship with MSG Networks, as the longtime flagship for the Knicks and Rangers. Afternoon drive co-host Alan Hahn has also been part of MSG’s Knicks coverage since 2012.
“Building upon our existing long-time relationship with ESPN New York was an inherently seamless fit for MSG Networks as we continue to enhance our programming,” Kevin Marotta, MSG Networks senior vice president of content and marketing, said in a statement to Newsday. “Delivering viewers additional opportunities to see and listen to game reactions from ESPN New York shows through the same platform as they are consuming Knicks and Rangers game broadcasts offers great continuity and a convenient extension of the viewing experience.”
When Hahn joined La Greca and Rosenberg in afternoon drive, he said he wanted a TV simulcast during an appearance on the Awful Announcing Podcast, noting that a partnership with MSG Networks seemed to make the most sense. Hahn also said he heard from many people who said they were used to watching ESPN New York’s afternoon show on TV.
“What I’d like to do is see if MSG wants to come in and make sure that the drive time show still maintains a simulcast where every bar in New York and the surrounding area has it on from 3–7 p.m. My fingers are crossed that maybe we can work something out in the near future.” Hahn said during the Dec. 2024 interview with Awful Announcing. “And plus, I want clips on Awful Announcing as much as possible.”
More than 20 months later, Hahn is finally going to get his wish, with ESPN New York’s afternoon show returning to TV for the first time since 2024.
MSG has a history of simulcasting sports radio shows, airing Boomer and Carton from 2010-2013. It also previously produced a daily “best of” version of ESPN New York’s morning show when it was hosted by Hahn, DiPietro and Chris Canty years ago.
While ESPN New York already offers its full local weekday lineup live on YouTube, drive-time shows being on television and airing in bars and airports throughout the metropolitan area still hold a different level of cachet.
