UPDATE: Connor Zilisch shared an update on his condition following the fall.

While the scene at Victory Lane is normally a festive one during NASCAR broadcasts, it was anything but during Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series at Watkins Glen event, the Watkins Glen International.
Moments after winning the race, Connor Zilisch pulled into Victory Lane and attempted to do the standard celebration of standing on top of the car. But shortly after getting his right foot on top of the car, Zilisch lost his balance. His left foot, which was resting on the open driver’s side window, also slipped, going back into the car. That caused Zilisch to fall on his face.
He was quickly attended to. Cameras did not stay on Zilisch for long as he lay on the ground, but in that time, he barely moved. The CW broadcast quickly cut away from Zilich and later went to commercial.

Fortunately, early reports on Zilisch were positive.
“Connor is speaking, was speaking, with medical personnel,” reporter Dillon Welch said from Victory Lane. “And then the trackside medical group that drove the medical golf cart in. They are loading him on a backboard right now and gonna put him on the cart. And I believe taking him to the infield medical center just for more evaluation. But I did get confirmation. He was speaking with the medical folks. And that’s the only thing we can say at this time.”
