Mike Francesa

Adam Sandler doesn’t act in “serious” movies that much anymore, and why would he? Netflix essentially gave him a massive deal to literally fart around, and aside from 2017’s The Meyerowitz Stories, he hasn’t done much dramatic work since 2009 Funny People.

Sandler does, however, star in the upcoming thriller Uncut Gems, where he plays a jeweler who gets caught up in the world of celebrities and sports gambling. The IMDb synopsis sums it up thusly:

Set in the diamond district of New York City, Howard Ratner, a jewelry store owner and dealer to the rich and famous, must find a way to pay his debts when his merchandise is taken from one of his top sellers and girlfriend.

Kevin Garnett plays himself in a role that has third billing on IMDb, but perhaps the biggest surprise is that Mike Francesa is in this, playing an actual character. He even makes an appearance early in the (NSFW-language) trailer:

Get the Oscar hype machine fired up, people. No one’s dropped a more authentic NYC f-bomb on screen in ages.

Uncut Gems is out on Christmas Day, if you’re so inclined.
