Taylor Swift’s rise to superstardom has now reached a point where Donald Trump and Dave Portnoy are debating how hot she is.
Portnoy joined Fox Business host Stuart Varney Tuesday morning to discuss former President Joe Biden’s cancer diagnosis, celebrity endorsements, horse racing, and Trump’s one-sided feud with Taylor Swift. Recently, Trump claimed Swift is “no longer hot,” and proudly took credit for what he apparently perceives to be a downfall. With Portnoy having endorsed Trump last fall while also being an unabashed Swiftie, Varney asked whether the Barstool Sports founder was upset by the president’s claim.
“I’m not upset with Trump. Trump’s Trump, so that was not a surprising thing,” Portnoy said. “I mean, he’s wrong. Like, you can’t be more wrong about anything. Taylor Swift is as hot as she’s ever been in the streets. She hasn’t put out new music, but if she said, ‘hey, snap my fingers, I want to sell 500,000 or a million tickets in three seconds and break Live Nation, she’d do it.”
Last September, Swift endorsed Democratic candidate Kamala Harris for president. Trump responded about as maturely as one might expect, by posting “I hate Taylor Swift” on social media.
Trump went on to taunt Swift for getting booed at this year’s Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles. And when the Eagles celebrated their Super Bowl win with a visit to the White House last month, Trump used it as an opportunity to jab Swift again.
And last week, Trump attempted to reignite his one-sided feud with Swift in a social media post. “Has anyone noticed,” he wrote, “that since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she’s no longer ‘HOT?’”
“Listen, Trump goes on a rant, something made him upset, but he couldn’t be more wrong about this if his life depended on it,” Portnoy insisted. “Taylor is the number one musician in the world and there’s nobody particularly close.”
