Some people may not have liked the inauguration for what President Donald Trump said, Mike Francesa didn’t like it for what was on Melania Trump’s head.
Francesa doesn’t wear hats. Have you seen his hair? If you have a head of hair like that at 70 years old, you don’t hide it with a hat. With Francesa knowing when not to wear a hat, he had an issue with the one the first lady wore to Trump’s second inauguration this week.

“Melania is stunning. She has great clothes. She’s a beautiful woman. I did not like her hat,” Francesa said on his podcast. “And I usually like hats, on women, especially someone as stylish as she is. I did not like her hat at all. Did not like her hat, that’s it. That was very odd. I just didn’t like her hat. I have to admit.”
Credit Francesa for putting that criticism of the first lady as eloquently as he possibly could. Francesa always prided himself on building a massively successful radio show while avoiding the “guy talk” that often appeals to the targeted male 25-54 demo. Breaking down Melania Trump’s looks and hat is about as close as he’s going to get to that realm of content. But this one was unavoidable for the WFAN legend. He knows ball, politics and fashion. Two of those worlds collided and he couldn’t ignore it.
Mike Francesa loves politics, especially on days that are, for better or worse, pivotal moments on the country’s history, which Monday was. And Melania Trump’s hat nearly ruined it.
