Ex-ESPN and Fox Sports personality Marcellus Wiley has frequently been willing to boldly say what he thinks despite the risk of backlash. The latest example of that came on X Saturday, where he responded to fellow ex-ESPNer Robert Griffin III’s question about President Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and the Department of Government Efficiency and its widespread cuts with unfettered praise:
Love It! Making our Government more effective & efficient!

That sparked a lot of criticism for Wiley from those not in favor of Trump, Musk, and the DOGE cuts. But his opinion here shouldn’t be a surprise, considering that he visited Trump at the White House this week, and posted about that later Saturday:
It was all a dream…🙏🏿❤️
Beyond honored to visit The President @realDonaldTrump and the @WhiteHouse

Since leaving Fox in late 2022, Wiley has continued to weigh in on sports and sports media on several platforms, most notably on his Hydration Situation podcast/video show. That’s seen him go after Stephen A. Smith, Skip Bayless, Drake and ESPN, Ryan Clark, and Fox, where he’s even publicly mulled legal action in the wake of hairdresser Noushin Faraji’s lawsuit against the company. And he’s often weighed in on politics as well, including claiming last summer he had proof Democrats were “buying off” celebrities.
For the moment, Wiley’s work in the media space looks to be mostly on his own shows. But he’s promised a reunion with former ESPN colleague Max Kellerman (who he’s often praised) on a sports show by 2026. Whether he goes through with that or pivots more to political discussion, it seems likely Wiley will continue weighing in on politics.
