Boomer Esiason is happy Donald Trump won the 2024 presidential election, and he’s grateful for Elon Musk’s influence over the process.
Esiason, who is a registered Independent, opened his WFAN morning show with co-host Gregg Giannotti by stating he was “happy” to see Trump as president-elect, believing it will ultimately be a good thing for the economy and all Americans. And after expressing satisfaction over the election result, Esiason touted Musk as an important factor.

“I would just say that the biggest move in this whole thing was Elon Musk and what he did with X,” Esiason said. “And if it wasn’t for that and if it wasn’t for…some would say some of it is disinformation, but a lot of it is accurate information. And he is a free speech advocate and he wants people out there talking about uncomfortable things. And if it weren’t for him, there’s no way Donald Trump is sitting here today.”
“This Elon Musk impact in this is enormous. It is enormous,” Esiason continued. “He now has to be the most famous person in the world if Donald Trump isn’t. Just simply because the interactions on X last night exceeded 6 billion. 6 billion interactions on X, a company that he owns and he bought and exposed the Twitter files.”
Musk purchased the social media platform formerly known as Twitter for $44 billion in 2022. According to recent estimates from Fidelity Investments, Musk’s social media platform is now worth $9.4 billion. The 80% decline in value seemingly makes it worth questioning whether Musk made a sound business decision. It’s also worth questioning whether the disinformation on Twitter has been cleaned up since Musk purchased the platform and renamed it X.
Two years later, Musk may not have won his bet on Twitter, but he did just win his bet on Trump. There may not have been a business leader who did more to support Trump in the 2024 presidential election than Musk. Financially, Musk dumped more than $100 million of his own money into the Trump campaign. And publicly, no one was more vocal in his support of Trump than Musk. He appeared at rallies and even used his social media platform to host a softball interview for Trump.
It paid off for Musk, as Trump declared him a “new star” during his victory speech while also previously promising to let the tech billionaire lead a government efficiency commission. Conflicts of interest could certainly emerge from the position, with Musk, the top executive of Tesla and SpaceX, potentially benefitting from financial rewards such as tax breaks and government contracts.
You can question Musk buying X, you can criticize his relationship with Trump, but Esiason was right about one thing. The tandem of Musk and Trump just won back the White House.
