After Jason Kelce defended his brother from a heckling fan last week, Travis Kelce returned the favor on their New Heights podcast.

Jason Kelce was at Penn State for College GameDay last weekend when an unruly fan sparked an altercation by calling his brother a homophobic slur. Kelce responded by smashing the fan’s phone to the ground and calling him the same homophobic slur.

Despite most people supporting Kelce for defending his brother in the heat of the moment, the former Philadelphia Eagles center opened Monday Night Countdown by apologizing for the incident. Jason expressed similar remorse for the incident on the latest episode of their New Heights podcast, regretting that he gave the heckling fan the attention he sought. Travis, however, came to his brother’s defense.

“I know it’s weighing on you brother, that s*** sucks,” Travis said. “You shouldn’t feel this much, obviously the scrutiny and the media view on it and everybody passing around the videos that are being out there.”

“That’s gonna make it a bigger situation than, I think, what it really is. But, the real situation is you had some f***ing clown come up to you and talk about your family and you reacted in a way that was defending your family. And, you might have used some words that you regret using. And, that’s a situation that where you just kinda have to learn from and own. And I think you owning it and you speaking about it shows how sincere you are to a lot of people in this world.”

Jason reiterated that using the returning the homophobic “F-slur” back at the fan was his biggest regret. In the heat of the moment, however, he explained wanting to “throw that sh*t right back in his face, because f*** him.”

Yes, Jason Kelce used a homophobic slur, but the common belief is that he probably would have thrown whatever word the heckling fan used back at him. It just so happens that it was a homophobic slur. Because of that, his apology for using the word seems sincere, while his apology for the entire altercation remains unnecessary.
