Ryan Clark was one of the most visible people in NFL media for nearly a decade.
The former Pittsburgh Steelers safety joined ESPN shortly after retiring and quickly became a regular across the network’s programming. In recent seasons, Clark often appeared on Get Up, First Take, and NFL Live during the day; he was also a panelist on Monday Night Countdown each week. Clark also found time to host Inside the NFL and record interviews for his podcast, The Pivot, weekly on top of his duties for the Worldwide Leader.
He will devote his attention to the latter after his sudden departure from ESPN earlier this summer. Clark on Monday announced the premiere of The Pivot Sports with Ryan Clark, a live studio show produced in partnership with NFL Films that will air on the podcast’s YouTube channel.
Narrated by Odell Beckham Jr. and Jalen Hurts, the video notes that Clark is moving toward “passion over platform” and “people over perception,” a clear shot at ESPN that Clark elaborated upon in an interview with The Athletic.
“I think the tone, for me, is definitely a triumphant one,” the notoriously earnest Clark told The Athletic. “And it’s not even in the sense that I’ve won, but more that I’m not lamenting what was lost.”
So…here we are!!! It’s Monday and….
Thank you to every one who has supported, everybody that has reached out & all who showed love. Every time I’ve heard “We got your back” it’s meant the world to me! So, this is for you. @thepivot sports premiers today at 2pm est on The… pic.twitter.com/crz9ORzR61

The Pivot Sports appears to be a straightforward NFL commentary show, with Clark as host and analyst. It departs from the podcast’s typical structure, which centers on weekly interviews across sports and pop culture, plus periodic shorter discussions between the hosts. From the teaser video, it seems Pivot co-hosts Channing Crowder and Fred Taylor will contribute to the show, though perhaps not as full-time co-hosts.
Though The Pivot recently signed a non-exclusive deal to license its show to Netflix, this new show will air on YouTube to begin. The arrangement should allow The Pivot to engage its YouTube audience while developing a new show that could eventually appeal to Netflix. The streamer has leaned heavily on live content in its partnership with The Ringer, and airs live episodes of The Breakfast Club radio show each morning.
