Dan Bernstein has a new gig.
After an unceremonious exit at 670 The Score, Bernstein is in the process of landing a new podcast, according to Jeff Agrest of the Chicago Sun-Times. The veteran Chicago sports radio personality is close to finalizing a deal with Hubbard Broadcasting for multiple podcast shows, with his former Score producer Matt Abbatacola expected to join him in the venture.

Hubbard Broadcasting operates three Chicago radio stations — WTMX-FM (101.9), WDRV-FM (97.1), and WTBC-FM (100.3) — from its St. Paul, Minnesota headquarters. The media company launched its Gamut Podcast Network in March as part of an expanding digital strategy.
Bernsetin’s new show will be called Dan Bernstein Unfiltered.
The longtime Chicago sports radio host was removed from 670 The Score’s midday lineup after threatening to expose a social media follower’s personal information over a disagreement related to his latest fishing catch. He was sidelined for four days before the Audacy-owned station announced that he was no longer part of The Score.
Joining The Score in 1995, Bernstein became a mainstay in Chicago sports media, filling several timeslots with various co-hosts throughout his three-decade-long tenure.
The fallout from Bernstein’s social media incident extended beyond his radio career. Camp One Step, a Chicago-based engagement program for children with cancer, removed Bernstein from its board of directors. Current FS1 host and former colleague at The Score, Danny Parkins, called it an “awful decision” to remove Bernstein because of “comments on social media.”
This wasn’t Bernstein’s first controversial moment in recent months. Last year, the sports radio host went off on Barstool’s Eddie for calling him by his last name, “Bernstein.” The bizarre reaction reportedly didn’t sit well with some of his colleagues and even sparked a feud with Dave Portnoy.
Moving forward without him, The Score tapped Leila Rahimi as Bernstein’s permanent replacement alongside Marshall Harris in late April. Now, with his podcast deal on the horizon, Bernstein’s return to Chicago sports media via podcasting will test whether his loyal fan base outweighs the recent controversies that cost him his radio career and board position.
