Clay Travis Credit: The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show

Clay Travis isn’t wasting any time in his return to sports media.

The firebrand Travis rose to prominence blogging about college football and then by launching OutKick nearly two decades ago. Then, he sold OutKick to Fox in 2021, working under the OutKick umbrella at Fox for several years before exiting earlier in 2026 with plans to start a new brand.

Now, according to Front Office Sports, Travis is on the cusp of starting a new company. Per the report, Travis has trademarked the name “Sport & State” along with a logo earlier this year. The trademark application describes an internet content brand that will focus on news and commentary in sports and politics.

The new outlet, FOS added, is expected to be built around two shows at launch. One will be The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show, the widely syndicated news talk radio and digital show that Travis has hosted for five years. The other is Hutton & Withrow, with the former co-hosts of Outkick Hot Mic.

Hiring and sponsorship sales are reportedly underway. The dimension of Travis poaching OutKick talent would certainly be an intriguing one after Fox folded Travis’ old site as a vertical within Fox News upon his exit. Perhaps the question of how Travis’ new outlet would differentiate itself from OutKick is less relevant than which parts of OutKick he could take with him.

The market for a website built around conservative sports and culture writing may not be as strong as it was in 2011, but Travis figures to have a huge leg up by starting with two preexisting digital talk shows that will bring an audience in from the jump.
