Al Michaels has announced countless major sporting events in his storied career, but he’d like to add one more to the list.

The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. And he wants to host it with famous actor Will Ferrell.

The Thursday Night Football play-by-play man revealed that goal Thursday on the Dan Patrick Show. Patrick asked Michaels about working with Kirk Herbstreit while the analyst’s golden retriever, Ben, roamed the TNF booth.

“I’m not an animal person; I’ve never had an animal in my life — I’ve never had a goldfish,” Michaels said. “But I kind of fell in love. Ben is just a gorgeous golden retriever …”

Patrick asked if Michaels would ever get a dog, and he said no, but then he revealed his goal.

“But one day, I would like to announce the Westminster Kennel Dog Show. I think that would be a lot of fun,” Michaels said. ‘That’s one thing I haven’t done.”

If Michaels auditions for the role, hopefully, he will hone his knowledge of dogs.

“I’m not saying it’s on my bucket list,” Michaels said. “What would I say? ‘There’s a pooch, there’s a pooch. … a pooch and a mutt.’ What do I know? I don’t know dog breeds.”

Patrick asked if he’d do the hosting gig like the popular 2000 mockumentary Best in Show, which spoofed dog shows.

“I’d have to. I’d have to,” Michaels said.

At that point, Patrick mentioned his show’s executive producer, Paul Pabst, has a contact with the Westminster show.

“Mr. Michaels, if you would like me to, they’re going to scoop you up in a second,” Pabst said.

“I’ll do it with Will Ferrell,” Michaels said.

As fate would have it, Ferrell will appear on Friday’s Dan Patrick Show.

“I’ll ask if Will wants to take part in the Westminster dog show with you,” Patrick promised.
