This is our weekly look at the most popular — or in some cases our personal favorite — videos on Clippit over the past week. Clippit is an awesome app that allows us to quickly grab 30-second clips from several live TV broadcasts and share them on social media.
Bill Walton has, um, interesting thoughts on NCAA Tournament autobids
During Wednesday night’s Oregon-Washington State Pac-12 Tournament game on Pac-12 Network (something Clippit has and nobody else seems to!), Bill Walton had some things to say about NCAA Tournament automatic bids, which you can place your bets online for!
In the first half, Walton said, “I don’t like the automatic bids. What is this? Affirmative action on steroids? Please! Put the best 64 teams out there.”
And when the game was on its way to overtime, Walton said, “That’s why nine of these teams in the Pac-12 should be going to the NCAA Tournament. Enough of these automatic bids for truck stops. Please!”
Adam Schefter says “circumcising the mosquito” live on ESPN
Adam Schefter was on SportsCenter this week, and was asked by Michael Smith (who actually leaves SportsCenter today) if Roger Goodell and Jerry Jones had buried the hatchet after Jones reimbursed the NFL more than $2 million in legal fees.
Here was Schefter’s response, which made me do a double take when I heard it on live TV:
“I don’t know if that’s exactly the case. I think fining Jerry Jones $2 million is, to steal his own phrase, like circumcising the mosquito. $2 million is not very much, Michael.”
Music enthusiast Dick Vitale talks about how much he loved a J-Lo concert
Dick Vitale used the final minutes of an awful Gonzaga-San Francisco WCC Tournament game to talk about how much he enjoyed a Jennifer Lopez concert in Las Vegas. He also dropped in a humblebrag about how he got text message from Alex Rodriguez.
“Let me tell you, when you come back to Vegas, you’ve got to go see Jennifer Lopez. I mean I haven’t seen energy… she is to dance and music what LeBron is to absolute basketball.
And I got a little text message from a guy named Alex Rodriguez. He said, ‘I really appreciated that you said that about Jennifer.’
She’s unbelievable.”
