After making his official media debut and then throwing some jabs at Tom Brady during his Netflix roast, Bill Belichick will officially be on ESPN’s Monday Night Football with Peyton and Eli simulcast.
During Sunday’s roast, Peyton Manning confirmed The Athletic’s reporting, as Andrew Marchand said last month that the six-time Super Bowl champion head coach was expected to have a recurring role on the ManningCast throughout the 2024 season.
“For those who don’t know, Coach is gonna be doing some work on Eli and my Monday Night Football show this year,” Manning said via Pro Football Talk. “I gotta tell you, it’s gonna be awesome. Eli and I are super excited. And it’s gonna give Coach Belichick something he hasn’t had in a while. The chance to be around quarterbacks that he respects.”
Belichick isn’t expected to participate in every edition of the ManningCast, but his presence on the simulcast will be welcomed. The 72-year-old is well known for his previous battles against Peyton’s Colts and Broncos teams in the AFC, while his Patriots lost two Super Bowls to Eli Manning and the Giants.
In addition to his recurring role on the ManningCast, Marchand reports that the three-time NFL Coach of the Year “could also be part of an undetermined football show with Omaha” and that “Belichick has discussed starting a podcast with different platforms.”
Beyond his semi-regular appearances on the ManningCast, Belichick reportedly “could also be part of an undetermined football show” with Manning’s Omaha Productions, according to Marchand. Whether that happens remains to be seen, as Manning didn’t confirm that Sunday, but you also have to remember that it was part of the roast, so there wasn’t really a natural way to bring up a potential podcast or show.
Despite his prickly persona, Belichick has proved himself to be a natural on TV. And if the legendary head coach’s Pat McAfee’s Draft Spectacular appearance is any sign of things to come, he’ll fit in just fine with the two quarterbacks he used to battle against.
