Kenny Albert and Eddie Olczyk call the Stanley Cup Final Credit: TNT

It’s a short list of analysts that have had the type of longevity that Eddie Olczyk has had throughout his career. And on Monday night, Olczyk hit quite the landmark during Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final between the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers.

During the third period of Monday’s broadcast, Olczyk’s play-by-play partner Kenny Albert recognized the longtime analyst for calling his 1,000th nationally televised game.

“What would you have said the day you were drafted if I told you that 41 years to the day later, you would work your 1,000th national broadcast in the United States and Canada? Congratulations,” Albert said. “Over 1,000 games as a player, thousands as a local broadcaster, and now 1,000 at the national level. The twelfth person in all of sports in North America among analysts to work 1,000 career games on national television.”

“Honored and work with great people. Been lucky to be able to do that, and it’s the greatest game in the world. And thank you for that,” Olczyk replied. “I am old. That’s all that equals,” he later quipped.

Olczyk is in some pretty prestigious company after Monday night’s game!
