When Kenny Albert was named the successor to the legendary Rangers TV play-by-play voice Sam Rosen in April, many wondered who would join Dave Maloney — Albert’s longtime radio broadcast partner of 20 years — on the Rangers’ radio team. But as it turns out, Maloney will simply be following Albert over to the TV side of things on MSG Network.
In a post on X on Wednesday, the Rangers announced that the longtime duo, Albert and Maloney, will reunite as the team’s TV broadcast team for the 2025-26 NHL season. Maloney will replace Joe Micheletti, who retired alongside Rosen following the 2024-25 season.

Speaking about the new opportunity during a Wednesday conference call with reporters, as transcribed by the New York Post, Maloney said he is “looking forward” to the role, though he admitted he was initially taken aback, having assumed he and Albert wouldn’t be working together anymore.
“I just couldn’t be more thrilled, in all honesty,” said Maloney. “To be in this position, I’m really looking forward to it. And again, you mention the 100-year anniversary, it’s just a little overwhelming, but I’m really looking forward to it. It should be fun.
“I’ve never held it against Kenny Albert that he grew up as a Vancouver Canucks fan. We’ve worked together for 20 years, and it’s funny, when we were signing off on the radio, it wasn’t like we were an old divorced couple or something like that. We were actually getting along! To think that we were going our separate ways, and here we are. It’s great, it’s great all the way around.”
Maloney not only played for the Rangers but was famously named the youngest captain in team history in 1978 at just 22 years old. His post-NHL career has only deepened his connection with countless Rangers fans.
