Tyreek Hill De'Von Achane Miami Dolphins Screengrab via X

There’s no gamesmanship when it comes to star Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill when it comes to what he would do to improve the team’s offense. He doesn’t think De’Von Achane should be called upon in short yardage situations.

The Dolphins are coming off of a disappointing 8-9 season and their future is a bit murky with the constant cloud hanging over Tua Tagovailoa and his health. But one thing the team does not lack is speed and weapons when it comes to Hill, Achane, and Jaylen Waddle.

But while De’Von Achane is known for his blistering pace and ability to house it from anywhere on the field, Tyreek Hill kept it real with his ability in short yardage situation at a training camp press conference. With a smile on his face, Hill said that the Dolphins could improve their short yardage success rate by taking their top running back out of the game and relying on others.

We’re used to boilerplate answers any time an NFL coach or player is asked about strategy or what to do with teammates in certain situations. So to hear that from a very honest Tyreek Hill is surprising and a bit funny at the same time. We know that he doesn’t really take these kinds of things personally. But in case you thought De’Von Achane took offense to being thrown under the bus and then backed over by his teammate, he seemed to take it all in stride by laughing in response.

Of course, maybe it’s all a decoy by Mike McDaniel when the regular season comes and he has some tricks under his sleeve for Hill and Achane. Or if the Dolphins season goes off the rails and everyone loses their jobs we can all have this moment to point back to where it all went wrong.
