Jayden Daniels and his mom Credit: NFL Network

Regina Jackson isn’t just Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels’ mother. She’s also his money manager and best friend.

After watching an interaction between her and her son, former ESPN host Trey Wingo thinks she needs to find something else to do with her time.

NFL Network was interviewing Daniels at the Commanders’ training camp when Mike Garafolo asked the quarterback what his mom meant to him and his career.

“She’s a mom first, and she’s always going to be there to uplift me, but if I’m doing wrong, she’s gonna let me know,” Daniels said as Jackson entered the frame and then stood behind him. “Even though I’m 24 years old, I’m still a grown man, but I still gotta listen to my mom at some point.”

“I’m very proud of him,” added Jackson. “The athlete, the man you guys see, and you always need your mommas around, so.”

When asked if she comes to training camp every day, Jackson said she didn’t.

“Trust me, they’ll tell you when I’m here,” she said.

Some found the whole interaction to be wholesome and heartwarming, but it sounds like Wingo thinks it was a bit much.

“She needs a hobby,” he wrote on X, quoting a Dov Kleiman post with the video.

Wingo got some pushback of his own, with some criticizing his reaction to seeing a mother and son who are close to one another. At least Booger McFarland seemed to like it.

Daniels is coming off an impressive rookie season in which he won AP Offensive Rookie of the Year and led the Commanders to a 12-5 record and NFC Championship game appearance. So if hanging out with his mom all the time is working for him, you probably won’t hear any complaining about it from Washington fans.
