I don’t know whether or not Taylor Swift has grinded Ohio State offensive line tape from the last two seasons. But the thought has at least now crossed my mind.
As you may have heard, the world’s biggest pop star made her podcasting debut on Wednesday night. And among the many clips to go viral from her appearance on New Heights was one in which she recalled her genuine excitement during the 2024 NFL Draft, as she learned that her All-Pro tight end boyfriend had just become teammates with one of the fastest prospects in league history.
“I’m forever thankful for you diving into the football world wholeheartedly,” Travis Kelce told his girlfriend.
“Oh my God, I fell in love with it,” Swift replied, “I became obsessed with it. I became like a person who was running through the halls of my house screaming, ‘We drafted Xavier Worthy!’ And my friends were like, ‘what? Who body snatched you? What do you mean we drafted Xavier Worthy?'”

Kelce proceeded to reveal that Swift was even aware of the Kansas City Chiefs’ draft selection before he was.
“I forget where I was, but you were the first person to tell me that we drafted the fastest man in the draft,” the 10-time Pro Bowl selection said.
“No, I was screeching,” the “Shake It Off” singer recalled. “I couldn’t believe it. I was freaking out.”
“I couldn’t believe it,” Kelce continued. “I’m like, ‘wait, is she right? I have to look this up.’ I’m like, ‘did she did she get the wrong information here?’ But yeah, we traded up.”
“We’re talking about cover two, cover four, cover zero, man coverage. We’re learning. I continue to learn,” Swift added. “I’m not ready to be an analyst right now. But give me 16 months.”
As for her draft bonafides, it doesn’t sound like Swift is exactly dissecting all-22 film or examining SPARQ scores, but it’s not a stretch to think that she’s at least done some YouTube deep dives. And while she didn’t share her thoughts on the Chiefs’ latest first-round pick, Josh Simmons, all indications out of training camp have been that she should be just as excited about the former Ohio State left tackle as she was to learn that Kansas City had selected Worthy a year ago.
